RESOLUTIONS & EVALUATION

  • Our resolution to the problem of location in our preliminary task, was to have a location with plenty of space to move around in, giving us options to use different camera angles. So we chose to film our sequence in a car park, as ths had plenty of space to use creative shots, such as match-on-action shots. We also filmed in a residential area and in a car. This gave us a new location, and by using the car, the shots used clearly indicate Jono as the boss.

  • For our film it is essential to have a soundtrack. We didn't have one in our preliminary sequence, so with so work on GarageBand and some hunting around on the internet we were able to produce a track, that we feel suits its purpose in creating tension.

  • As we didn't have much time to film our preliminary task, we made sure we had enough time to film our main project. We gave ourselfs enough time to do pick-ups and made sure our planning was efficient enough for us to get straight into filming.

RESOLUTIONS: TO OUR PRELIMINARY TASK

EVALUATION: MAIN PROJECT

After we had produced our rough copy, our film was shown to the rest of our class. They gave feedback, that we went on to change the problems they find in our film. Here are some of the feedback forms:

I believe without the preliminary sequence, we wouldn't have been able to produce such an effective opening sequence. Although the feedback was very useful, and we did use it to good affect, without the preliminary task, we would have been thrown in at the deep end. We would have had little practice with the hardware equipment and with experimenting with a variety of camera shots. The preliminary task enabled us to establish what was wrong with our film, and what needed to be done better next time. It gave us an indication to what aspects of filming are important, and how to get them right. It also showed that working well as a team is crucial to film-making, and good teamwork was what we had.
