PRE-PRODUCTION: MAIN PROJECT

One of the problems duirng the filming of our preliminary sequence, we didn't plan. This meant that whatever we did, we did in the spur of the moment. Pre-production was vital to the making of our film: 'Big Jon'. Without the planning, we would not have had a guide to follow, and once filmed, we might then have wanted to scrap the whole thing. The storyboard acted as our guide, and helped to produce a more effective opening sequence. Also unlike our preliminary task, the storyboard allowed us to create a clear narrative. As a team, myself, Sam and Jono ensured that our planning was effective enough to create a successful opening sequence.

From the preliminary sequence we felt that location was important to depicting our genre. As our genre is crime, we decided to have our protagonists introduced in a built-up, industrial area, to suggest this film is going to be a hrad-hitting film. So we chose a car park that overlooked and industrial site, as our opening establishing shot.
